  • What’s the Big Idea? Diversity and Inclusion

Just a glimpse of the diversity and inclusive nature of 3Mers around the world.

By Marlene McGrath, Senior Vice President, 3M Human Resources

We’re celebrating the one-year anniversary of “I’m in,” 3M’s global initiative to promote an inclusive culture. It’s been amazing to watch this initiative take off around the world, with 50 countries enthusiastically participating in both global and local “I’m in” activities.

In my travels to 3M locations around the world, I have seen posters, signs and more that relate to “I’m in.” But more than that, I have seen a shared desire to continue creating an inclusive culture across the company. This initiative spans boundaries and borders to resonate with 3Mers from all walks of life and all areas of the globe. But why do people care so much?

Because embracing our differences is both the right thing and the smart thing to do. In an inclusive business environment especially, people are engaged and empowered to share ideas and to act on them. At a company like 3M, our creativity is powered by our people – every one of them.
